Panel "Schwarze Proteste & Bewegungen"

FARAFINA Festival 2026 - Re:Claim Y:Our Stories
DE

Panel "Black Protests & Movements"

Black protests have shaped history – and they continue to shape it today. Whether confronting racist police violence, institutional racism, or social exclusion, Black movements make injustices visible, create spaces for empowerment, and call for fundamental social change. This panel asks: Which struggles are shaping Black movements today? What
does it take to turn solidarity into sustainable change? And how can resistance be organized when racist structures continue to shape politics, institutions, and the everyday lives of many people? What perspectives can open up for
solidarity, self-organization, and social transformation?

As part of the Farafina Afrokultur Festival, this high-profile panel brings together powerful voices from activism, journalism, and anti-racism education. Together, they will discuss current struggles, historical continuities, and the significance of Black movements in the pursuit of a more just society. The discussion will feature:
Sista Ọlọ́runtóyìn – activist, ARRIVATI, BCCJSD
Issio Ehrich – journalist
Suraj Mailitafi – activist, spokesperson for the “Justice for Lorenz” collective
Hamado Dipama – activist, Sankarist, and anti-racism consultant
The discussion will be moderated by Nadine Golly – Social scientist, Executive Director of the Bewegungsstiftung.
After the panel, we will open the floor for questions, discussion, and exchange with the audience. Because social change does not happen on panels alone – it happens through people who get involved, organize, and stand together for justice.

A panel about resistance, solidarity, and the political power of Black movements – yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
