The Blue Zone is a project of the Pavillon Cultural Center and SPOKUSA e. V., in which people aged 55 and over exchange ideas about a good life in old age and become active together.

The Blue Zones

There are five Blue Zones worldwide, areas where people grow very old and live healthy and happy lives. For the Hannover Region, we have declared a sixth Blue Zone to develop good conditions for life in old age. This includes healthy nutrition and exercise, meaningful activities, friendships, a good community and material security.

Project partners

The Blue Zone is a joint project of SPOKUSA e. V. and the Pavillon Cultural Center. The project team consists of Dörte Redmann (SPOKUSA e. V.), Susanne Müller-Jantsch (PavillonCultural Center) and Hanne Bangert.

Meetings and summer camps

The Blue Zone focuses on self-organisation and invites people to regular Blue Dinners and group meetings, among other things. In 2017, a large summer camp was held for the first time at the Pavillon cultural centre with many workshops, events and joint activities. In 2018, the summer camp took place at SPOKUSA. The following year, we moved to Polle in the Weserbergland region and established contacts between city and country dwellers. In 2022, the camp was moved to Hanover.

The Blue Zone also organises various meetings and events: Wild dancing with DJ, joint Blue Dinner, workshops or excursions. The new dates are regularly sent out for the Blue Zone newsletter.
