1. The Cultural Center Pavillon was founded in 1977 by the Bürgerinitiative Raschplatz e. V. by citizens for citizens under the former name “Kultur- und Kommunikationszentrum Pavillon” in the tradition of alternative culture, of the political left and anti-capitalism and is still committed to these ideals today. It is non-denominational, non-party political and does not pursue any profit-oriented goals due to the non-profit nature of its supporting association.
2. The Cultural Center Pavillon sees itself as a place where social debates are dealt with artistically, textually and activistically. As a founding member of the Bundesverband Soziokultur e. V. and as a socio-cultural center in Hanover with an impact throughout Germany, we are aware of our responsibility to the citizens of the city and region of Hanover (and beyond) and act accordingly.
3. The Cultural Center Pavillon reflects the current discussion on relevant social issues in its program, aims to initiate social debates and processes with its events and to enable people to take an informed position on these issues. In socio-cultural terms, it promotes the users’ and cooperating partners’ own activities and enables easily accessible and participation-oriented offers.
4. The Cultural Center Pavillon sees itself as an important addition and extension to commercial event operations and offers a stage to actors who cannot access sufficient space elsewhere. In the spirit of popular culture, it aims to create easy access to various cultural formats. At the same time, the Cultural Center Pavillon must meet economic requirements as a subsidized institution.
5. The Cultural Center Pavillon aims to open up spaces for cultural experiments. In doing so, it seeks and promotes innovative and contemporary artistic content and formats in all fields of the multi-genre program. When curating the program, high standards are applied to the quality and content of the events and they are critically examined for their compatibility with the Pavillon’s guidelines. We expect partners, artists and agencies who work with us to become familiar with these principles and not to violate them in their actions and statements.
6. The Cultural Center Pavillon is an open house and offers all groups, initiatives and associations that work according to the principles of respect, appreciation and mindful cooperation the easy-access opportunity to meet and use the rooms. Depending on the project, the room rents are based on a fixed rental key that takes into account a number of socio-economic factors, among others. The foyer is also open to the public free of charge at certain times for individuals and small groups.
